Thelma Rodriguez
Therapist, LCSW
As a clinical licensed social worker, I believe it is important to provide an empathic environment to allow the client to process their emotions in times of difficulty. My approach is tailored to the individual needs of my client. As a bilingual and bi-cultural (Spanish speaking) social worker, I strive to be culturally responsive.
My experience of 15 years of mental health in a school dynamic has allowed me to work directly with children aged eight or older, adolescents, emerging adults, parents, adults and couples. Specifically in the areas of anxiety, academic stressors, ADHD, behavior disruptions, executive functioning, depression and self-esteem. My therapeutic approach is collaborative so that together we are able to recognize strengths, explore roots of thoughts and feelings. I value therapeutic work as a pathway to help navigate grief, loss, divorce, life changes, interpersonal relationships, anxiety, depression, and mood fluctuations. In a collaborative sense, we will explore ways to make sure the individual reaches their full potential.
I incorporate the principles of mindfulness, person-centered approach, CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy).
My goal is to provide a respectful and non-judgmental space to achieve self-awareness, increase skills to improve emotional well-being and identify the best direction to self-improvement.
